TripIt Where?

So I’m at the airport awaiting my flight. I come across a business traveler who hasn’t heard about TripIt. I’m like seriously? How many flights do you take in a year? He says 60-75. So I ask, “How do you organize your travel?” He says he inputs it manually. I’m like homie…do you want those hours in your life back . Let me introduce you to TripIt.

What is TripIt? Tripit is a cool online service /app that organizes your travel. First things first. Creating a account is the hardest thing to do. And that takes all of 15 minutes. After the account is created you just have to link your email and you’re done.

So how does Tripit work? Let’s say you book a hotel and a flight online. After booking, your airline and your hotel should send you a confirmation email.(hopefully you have your email linked to all of your hotels and airlines). All you have to do is send that email to plans@tripit.com. TripIt has your email on file. The app automatically organize your trip into a nice folder. You can access your trip online at TripIt.com or with the app. Tripit sends you a confirmation that they received the information. Voilà.
You can merge trips. Separate trips. Input info manually if needed. You can send your family your trip information so they know your travel plans. If you upgrade to TripIt pro, they send you travel alerts. When your flight lands. Baggage claim pickup locations. There’s been times I’ve received alerts from TripIt before the airline has sent out their flight alerts.
You can get fancy and link your TripIt account to your calendars. I have my TripIt account linked to my ICal. As soon as I link my travel plans it automatically updates into my iCalendar.

TripIt isn’t the only travel organizer out there. Here’s some other apps you should check out.

Concur. I’ve used concur in the past. The app is great and its a close second to TripIt. I love how my trips are displayed on the app. COncur also handles invoicing and expenses. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

I also have to mention Worldmate app.

All of these apps provide cool solutions to organizing your travel life.
